The NVD Process
A unique method of mold manufacturing, atom by atom. Nickel shell molds are operating successfully, without failure, in a variety of processes for over 14 years. |
Weber Manufacturing Technologies Inc. (Midland, ON CANADA) introduces a unique method of mold manufacturing with its advanced proprietary technology. Nickel Vapour Deposition (NVD) nickel shell mold manufacturing has been successfully proven for over 14 years in: Direct Back Foam, Urethane, RIM Overmold, Spray Urethane, Injection, Slush, RTM, SMC Compression, SRIM, Compression Injection, Autoclave.
Advantages of NVD nickel shells include:
Substantial Cost Savings in Multiple Mold Applications
High Accuracy Incorporating Slides/Lifters for Undercuts
Conformal Heating and Cooling
Incredible Grain Definition
Shorter Deliveries
Superior corrosion resistance (better than electroformed nickel and Nickel 200)
Fast nickel vapour deposition process 0.010"/hr (0.25mm/hr) - more than 20 times faster than electroforming
CNC machined re-usable metallic mandrels produce high accuracy
Shorter delivery times and lower costs for duplicate shells
More uniform wall thickness than electroforming
Virtually stress-free
Nickel Vapour Deposition (NVD) nickel can easily be welded due to absence of sulfides
Excellent durability - due to high hardness
Excellent mold release due to fine grain structure
Significantly lighter than solid aluminum or steel molds
1" (25mm) thick nickel shells can be produced in 100 hours
Thermal conductivity of nickel is 76% better than P-20 (2311) steel
